STANDARD 3-D ANAGLYPH The standard 3-D that we are familiar with are the NASA photographs of Mars and photographs like this one of the moon. They require 3-D glasses to make them three dimensional. Red/cyan with the red on the left are the colors mostly recommended. However, there are more Red/blue glasses available and I prefer the red on my right. This site is not exploring this Standard type because it has been explored and written about extensively. Our exploration here is the vibrating and/or jumping forward of flat planes of color creating a shallow 3-D effect and not a realistic image based one. |

Notice on the two cubes above that when you first look at the one on the left you are seeing it from the top and if you then switch your vision to the one on the right you are looking at it from the bottom. You may not see it from the bottom at first but if you continue to look at it the cube slowly rolls up to where you can see it from the bottom. This appears to work with the blink of your eyes. But not always sometimes the magenta changes and it just gradually rolls over with no eye blink. If you linger too long the illusion will be gone and a new "logical" reality will appear as the one on the right will flip and you also see it from the top. NOTE: This is not approached as a science. It is approached as creative art. Therefore, I do not have to have an explanation and I do not have to explain why it may not work for you. It does work for me.

Obviously these drawings use overlapping as a 3-D effect. It is usually taken for granted that any drawing will use overlapping to show which object is in front. However, when they are viewed with 3-D glasses there is a glowing effect associated with some colors and their juxtaposition. This in itself creates a 3-D effect. This is more of a jumping forward instead of a gradual recession of space.

"Glasses are Red and Blue" with the Red one covering the right eye. An
attribute of 3-D glasses (other than making anaglyphs three dimensional) is
that that will make some colors glow and therefore jump forward.
Notice how the green blocks jump forward with the glasses. |

First Alice and the Mad Hatter |
Second Alice and the Mad Hatter On this second one Alice was more heavily outlined and attire was made more Retro Punk X. This one (when viewed with the 3-D glasses) vibrates much more. |
